Inspired Minds: A meeting in memory of Moses Rossi

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

To honor Professor Mosè Rossi, we organize a memorial event to be held on January 25th 2024, 9:30-16:30, in the Conference Room of the Area Napoli 1 of the National Research Council, Via P. Castellino 111, Naples, Italy in the framework of the Workshop of the Italian Society for Astrobiology of which Mosè was one of the founding members.

It will be an opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary impact in the field of astrobiology, biochemistry and biotechnology of Mosè Rossi, who was Professor Emeritus of Enzymology at the University of Naples Federico II and served as director of CNR Institutes.

Mosè was a giant in the scientific community, a pioneer who masterfully combined the theoretical aspects of biochemistry with applications in biotechnology. As early as mid-80s, he was among the first in Italy to understand the importance of studying extremophilic microorganisms in reconstructing the evolution of life on Earth and in Space. His visionary insight into biomolecules from extremophilic organisms and their use in biotechnology enabled the creation of international networks of projects and the founding of a globally recognized school of knowledge.

In addition to his outstanding scientific qualities, Mosè Rossi will be remembered by his close colleagues for his extraordinary humanity, willingness to listen and to offer advice, ideas and projects to all those who were fortunate enough to share the path alongside him. His legacy lives on through the generations of researchers he inspired and influenced.

The participation to the event is open to all who wish to celebrate the life and contributions of Mosè Rossi. The details of the registration, which is mandatory, please find below the preliminary programme:
